Oreo has announced the release of lychee-flavored cookies in celebration of the Lunar New Year. This new flavor will only last for a limited time in convenience stores in China. According to Mothership, they will be available through April 2021.
The face of the Oreo cookies have printed cow designs and Chinese greetings to celebrate 2021 being the Year of the Ox. The packaging also features cow and ox decor, as well as popular Chinese New Year phrases. One box of lychee Oreos contains eight smaller packets of cookies wrapped in red and gold.
Moreover, these lychee flavored Oreos are expected to taste especially sweet. Lychee flavored filling will replace the classic vanilla cream in these special Oreos. This novelty features the lychee filling sandwiched between two red, lychee flavored cookies decorated with Chinese characters and cartoon cow designs in honor of the Lunar New Year.
Throughout the years, special Oreo flavors have launched in China for various occasions. Some of the most memorable flavors include Wasabi, BBQ Pork Pastry, and Red Bean Cake. So far, these flavors have only been released in China. Special flavors released in America include Carrot Cake, Lemon, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie.
